Survivor 37, Episode 8

“YOU GET WHAT YOU GIVE”

Back at camp after the Elizabeth vote, Angelina knows she’s on the hot seat and immediately launches a damage control speech, telling everyone that Elizabeth was the one who pulled her aside and badgered her for a name, which no one buys, and they snicker behind her back.

While talking about Strike Force the next day, Mike tells Christian that he's worried about Gabby from the way she still seemed to be thinking along the David-Goliath line at the last tribal.

Meanwhile, Nick and Davie team up to look for an idol and find a clue: the coconut tree sign from the merge feast, obviously. Davie creates a little stick show diversion at the beach, so Carl and Nick can go retrieve the advantage, which turns out to be a steal-a-vote. So they really look a little too happy for this.

In the reward challenge, the players are divided into two teams of six, and each of them has to hold a sandbag connected to a trough above their heads. One member will tap out every 15 minutes, transferring their bag to those who remain. If any of them drops the bag, the trough will fall, and the team loses.

There's a little bit of boasting by Dan to Alec on the other team in the middle of the challenge, because five minutes later Dan will get distracted for one second and drop a sandbag, winning Alec, Nick, Gabby, John, Alison and Christian a dozen of pizzas, sodas and more.

Angelina tells us that Dan at the reward challenge just shows how cocky he is, and she can’t wait for it to catch up with him and bite him in the ass.

Back at camp, Mike now wants Christian out. He goes to Alec with this, then to the entire Goliath.

"This was my plan... I was trying to lead the charge on Christian last vote. And now I am having flashbacks to all those times either me or another woman had thrown out an idea, and a few minutes later a man throws out the same idea, and everyone’s like, that’s a great idea." ~ Angelina, in confessional.

Hear ya!

For immunity, all players have to hold a buoy with two sticks while standing on a narrow perch. Almost everyone goes out fast, leaving Angelina and Dan in the final showdown. Ultimately, the immunity goes to Dan.

Back at camp, the Goliaths seem set to vote for Christian. John tells us it sucks to see Christian go, but tonight is going to be a #brochachoblindside. #ughjohn. So the plan also includes making Angelina the decoy vote, which is making her nervous. Dan tries to convince Angelina that he’s going to give her his idol if they need to.

The fact is, Dan doesn’t care. He later tells Alec and Kara that he's thinking of just sacrificing Angelina if Christian has an idol.

Alec doesn’t mind voting out Christian, but he doesn’t want to lose Nick’s trust, so he tells Nick about the Goliaths' plan. With this information, Nick and Davie debate if they should use the steal-a-vote.

At tribal, they talk around the bush for a bit, throw false signs or maybe threats and hints, then vote. When Jeff asks if anyone wants to play an idol, Davie gets up and plays his on Christian. OMG, I love Davie even more for this.

Then something exciting happens because Angelina is at tribal.

She turns to Dan and asks for the idol he promised. Obviously, Dan is not feeling it *insert his face*, but he awkwardly gives in in the end, telling Jeff that he also needs to protect his alliance.

So seven votes go to Christian — all negated.
Two votes go to Angelina — negated. She made sure of it.
And three votes go to... John!

John as in Dan’s friend and fellow Brochacho John, as in the person Dan likes a tad more than he does Angelina — and we are sure he'd rather save instead.

Great job, Davie and David. Christian is saved by an idol and the good, old, simple voting trick of splitting the votes. The Goliaths must have been very confident that none of the Davids have any idols. It's two weeks in a row now that Christian has dodged the bullet, with Alec somehow has a role in it both times.

So John goes home, but from the cheers and good vibe goodbyes, it’s obvious that the guy’s well-liked by his entire tribe.

Before they leave, Jeff repeats Angelina’s wise words to everyone — that they all now have to go back to camp and live together. There should be a GIF for this.

This is a good episode.
