Life Is All Beautiful Fireworks

I was on one of those 'Don't hurt my feelings, my day sucked' modes last night. (They'd normally go away in the morning.) My two sisters, three nieces and I had a small picnic at a park on Saturday. We played games, we ran around, we raced, we had fun (because for what reason running and covering yourself with filthy sweat are not fun?), and I was surprised(?) by my shortness of breath. So I stood in front of the mirror this morning, staring at the hugest double panda eye bags in the world and wondering what magic cream could help to fix the rest of the reflection... and can I afford it? No, we can't expect to stay in one shape or look from 20 to 30 to 50, can we? I need a new haircut. I had a meeting on Sunday during which I was made to feel that I haven't made enough, and yet I was made to volunteer to pay for dinner and listen to the whole dialogue of The Chronicles of Narnia or something, complete with special effects. I didn't dare move a musc...

Happy Holidays

I spent the long Hari Raya Haji and Christmas weekend at my parents'. Those years of being at work on public holidays and the Easter getaways are long gone. Glad they are -- both the work and the getaways ;). I could actually strike 'visit parents more often' in the year's goals list too. One down, ninety-nine more to go. We went grocery shopping as usual with my mother for one whole evening on the first day, then took one day travelling 300km, accompanying her to visit our relatives. Spent the other days with TV and Sim City 4, doing a little reading, taking a moment admiring the beautiful full moon and stars at night, and helping myself to an endless flow of food enough to feed the entire... I should be ashamed of myself . Happy holidays.

Sensible and Logical Thought Process

Because I have a very sensible and logical thought process, I needed new makeup and dresses to compensate for my torturous weekend of two exam papers today. I was thinking of new colours: strong eyes, pale lips. And checking Body Shop this time. I'm sure they have a similar range of colours at a much lower price. Can you really tell if the blusher is from Body Shop or M.A.C and Bobbi Brown? (This may sound like brand-dropping. Some people talk about their dumb phones, I love my makeup.) So I walked into the store bringing together my tiny makeup bag, aka my entire makeup collection, and was greeted by a retail rep. After telling her what look I wanted, she inspected the current look that I had while I waited eagerly for her suggestion. She advised me to stick to my current makeup brands, saying they have better colour and last longer. (But I want chea-per !) "Err, ok, I appreciate your honesty, but are you sure you are allowed to say that ? Don't you have anythi...

I love this cardigan. Just got it today. The much awaited today arrived. I only had one work meeting at 5, so I was looking forward to a long breakfast and a lazy quiet afternoon. I reached KLCC at 11.30, had some coffee and waffles, and enjoyed not having to work hurry, until the sales staff wrongly put the cardigan, the last of my size in the store, into someone else's shopping bag while I was in the fitting room. So the rest of the afternoon consisted of a lot of running (I had to get the new cardigan at Pavilion and got a bit distracted there too) and me postponing my 5PM to 7PM. I reached home at 4.30, printed out a few presentation materials at the speed of light, and headed to the meeting in which I stuttered almost all the way! And I spent half a day running around buying clothes because it was important that I wear something new to a meeting. Update: I tried The Apartment on Wednesday -- nice ambience, overrated food. Then I saw The Kingdom, which I was ok ...
