Barbies

If life didn't have rules (or I didn't have to go to work like adults usually do), I'm positive I could join watch* my nieces play with their Barbies all day. The four girls have 20 dolls and counting, complete with playhouses and pretty wardrobes. *besides sitting in a Barbie section in a department store for hours, admiring the clothes and the horse carriage, of course. I could spend hours checking my own tiny wardrobe too -- admiring nicely arranged skirts and tops and suits, and rows of shoes and accessories... (What? It's therapeutic.) Recently, though, I had to give or throw many of them away after I finally accepted the fact that they either 1) are not my size style anymore. 2) have been in my closet for years, and I still have no idea where should I wear them to (or what was I thinking buying them in the first place). 3) have been worn millions of times. (You know, the favourite-so-comfy top that you wear almost every week -- for the past 185 week...

Chocolate

Shopaholic & Baby, the paperback, is still not released* yet, and I still refuse to buy the twice-the-price hardcover. (*I'm so holding my life until it is.) (It was sad to learn about the passing of Sidney Sheldon earlier this year. I've read all his books. Going to miss reading for the new ones.) I read John Grisham's The Innocent Man a while ago. If you've read it, you may find it gripping or... boring(?). I was hooked till the last page and couldn't get it out of my head for a few days. The book tells the horrific true story of Ron Williamson, who was wrongly convicted for rape and murder, strapping him to the death row for 11 years. Before the poor choices got him into trouble, and the series of losing hope and untreated illness, this guy was once a baseball star in his youth and blessed with a family that loved and supported him unconditionally. Imagine the different life paths each of us could have with one variable changed. There are times whe...

HK and Langkawi

Image
I went to Hong Kong and Langkawi early this year. Apparently, HK Disneyland is not as huge as those in the US or Paris. Regardless, the five-year-old in me was still happy with it. I almost 1) watched the Mickey's 4D movie three times and 2) didn't have the heart to eat the Mickey-shaped waffle. I took over 400 photos and was lucky enough to meet several new people too during the short trip. Just wish I could stay longer. So I didn't really get the chance to see the shopping complexes or the smaller local clothing shops like I was kind of hoping to, especially when the longest of time was needed to make sense of the map and surroundings. Still, thanks to a friend for being the navigator. Plus, it helps that he speaks the language. Though at times he couldn't really read them either. So we'd blankly stare at an info board or a menu for a very long time, waiting for him to crack the codes . We did go to Dongmen in Shenzhen and a night market in Mongko...

Grey

On my super motivated days, I'm a firm believer that life is about (God willing) choices. Outcome is the product of your action. But deciding IS hard. I wish it was not that hard to - choose a new place. I'm tired of looking around and still not able to decide on any that fit my budget needs. - pull the plug on some relationships. Two persons struggling to connect amid growing differences (or boredom) isn't a happy sight.

Write

I heard writing is therapeutic. As to how, it was a mystery to me, too, until the day I wrote my 9-to-the-next-day job resignation letter not so long ago. I work on my own now. This blog may or may not be about weird things at work, things that I do not admit in real life or just pretty much the whole week of TV.
