Survivor 36, Episode 8
"FEAR KEEPS YOU SHARP"
So it's the merge.
They eat, make a toast, make new bonds and reconnect with old friends. One person also raps, and Chris finds a clue stuck in his buff for an idol that has to be retrieved at Ghost Island that night.
But they also reconnect with old enemies. Wendell tries to play mediator, hosting a peace talk between Chris and Domenick, hoping that they can start over and work together. But Chris isn't so keen on the plan because why would he at least pretend to be interested for a chance not to be targeted? To be fair, "we can kill each other later" isn't really comforting.
But honestly, Chris thinks that he got this. He thinks the majority of people want to work with him, and if he can't be friends with someone, it's only his responsibility to let them know. That night, he manages to sneak out of the camp unnoticed and get the idol from the Ghost Island, which was JT's from Game Changers. So that's always a good sign. The same JT who also gave Russell his idol in Heroes vs Villains in an epic fashion. Chris explains that JT got a little cocky, and he promises that he's not going to be that guy who goes home with an idol in his pocket.
Kellyn wins the first individual immunity in a balancing challenge. So right after they get back to camp, it's time to pick names, or take 10 of your tribe members on a train to the well. God, it cannot be easy nodding to his words at that well, but Chris's plan is to split the votes between Domenick and Wendell, and flush Domenick's idol. And Libby is right, Domenick is dangerous and Chris will be loyal, but I guess she just doesn't have enough numbers to decide on another name. This is good enough that the original Malolos are not being targeted.
Donathan and Laurel tell Domenick about Chris's plan, and now Domenick and Wendell start rallying everybody.
At tribal, Domenick apologizes for his first day's comment to Chris, which again isn't that well received by Chris, and Jeff tries to make "Gut" happen again.
At the voting booth, Wendell gives a speech about how Chris should stop rapping. And a few minutes later, Domenick plays his idol, and Chris does not(!?) even after Domenick announced loudly from the booth that he was voting for Chris. So, there you go, The Noble One goes home.
(Yeah, I've seen Chris's Ponderosa video and this other rap video made of Wendell's speech in the voting booth. I'm not sure what I felt afterwards was entertained or pain.)
p/s Surprisingly, these people don't seem to have alliances? There are plans, but I can't see clear alliances. Up to this point, Navitis were too busy eating Malolos, and Malolos were too busy dodging bullets. If there is one alliance that exists at this moment, it's probably the one with Wendell, Domenick, Laurel and Donathan -- if that still holds.
p/p/s Or maybe I should have paid more attention. I watched this while playing with my iPad.
