Survivor 37, Episode 2
"THE CHICKEN HAS FLOWN THE COOP"
It’s cold and raining crazy on Survivor.
So it’s time to name alliances.
Nick is grateful for another three days in the game because he knows he'd have been voted out had they had a tribal council the night before. So he gets into Mason-Dixon Line with Christian.
Then the Survivor gods send each camp a fire-making kit and a tarp as a gesture of goodwill.
After getting a lot of praises for catching the octopus, Davie wants to continue to be the tribe’s provider — insert footage of him catching lizard and eating flower — but the bigger story is, he found the idol at David's beach. #yaydavie
And the next good news goes to Nick. Unless you are Laurel or a Naviti, as hopeless as it can seem sometimes, things can change in three days on Survivor. Carl, who wanted Nick voted out last episode, is now thinking about tribe’s strength — so he throws out Lyrsa’s name to everyone, which Nick is quick to agree. But Elizabeth isn’t too happy about it because she’s in an alliance with Lyrsa, so she spills to Lyrsa about Carl’s plan.
“Err, EXCUSE ME? I’m the weakest person? Who the bleep won the first challenge?” ~ Lyrsa, reacting to it in confessional.
At Goliath, two things happen when Dan continues to be his oblivious self. One: Jeremy goes through his jacket, with Mike keeping watch, and finds his idol. Two: Kara has started to realize that she needs to distance herself from Dan and start making other friends. So *cue women-alliance* she and Natalia jump at Angelina’s plan to use Dan, Alec and John for their numbers. Natalia declares that they are in power now and have these three men wrapped around their fingers. While I'm glad they seem to have a plan to take control of the game, that kind of confessional and confidence rarely end well I tell ya.
“Hold it. Don’t lose it. And don’t stab it on your foot. — I’m kind of like bossy. I gotta work on that.”
“You think?”
But everyone can relax, not worrying about being a target for now, because there's Natalie. Natalie continues to be annoying, sending orders about fixing the shelter, but sitting back and offering no help because "strategically, her game is getting along with everybody and laying low". So by now everyone seems to agree on Natalie should they have to go to tribal next. But in confessional, John says that he wants to work with Natalie because that would be an alliance that no one suspects, so he tells Natalie of her situation in the tribe. Instead of making a plan with John or taking a step back and making an inroad with anyone, she goes out confronting everybody and threatening "Natalie napalm" on them. And when Jeremy tries to talk to her, she still stands her ground. Respect.
“She has been married for 24 years, that means somebody loves her as she is. She’s not making any changes.” ~ Jeremy.
Ouch. I don't agree with every part of that, but it's still funny.
Turns out, the Goliaths can relax even more because we also have Bi and the Davids' paddling skills to screw up their immunity plus reward challenge.
Back at camp, Bi of all people gives everybody a little pep talk lecture about how it is technique and not physical strength, or something, that is more important in challenges, referring to her career as an MMA fighter. Smh. This is why 95% of the time I hate motivational quotes. Most people who throw them out should keep them for their own use.
So it’s time to name names. And it's still Lyrsa.
Only that, Gabby isn't so keen on it now. Elizabeth, who's already not into this, suggests Jessica’s name to Lyrsa, Gabby and Christian. Elizabeth stresses that getting rid of Jessica would also cut Carl and Bi's alliance. Gabby talks to Christian about it again, and he gets Nick in. So, if it hasn't already, that seals it. Jessica is voted out.
“Do you want to play with me?”
“Play with you? Oh, in the sand?”
“No, do you want to play with me in the game?”
